Ring, formerly known as DoorBot, is a smart home security company best known for its video doorbells and security cameras. Founded in 2013 by Jamie Siminoff and publicly launched by BIG FISH PR, the company built momentum and appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank. Though it failed to secure an investment from the Sharks, it did raise capital from Sir Richard Branson and, with the help of BIG FISH PR, rebranded to Ring in 2014.
In 2018 Ring was acquired by Amazon for over $1 billion, becoming a key part of Amazon’s smart home ecosystem. BIG FISH transitioned through the Amazon acquisition to become the PR agency of record for Amazon Ring and eventually, for the Amazon Blink brand as well.
Since launching the first product, Ring Video Doorbell, in 2013 BIG FISH worked with Ring to position each and every one of its products as the best preventative security devices available, securing significant coverage and reviews of Ring’s products in top-tier technology, lifestyle, and national news outlets. In total, BIG FISH secured 30,785 TOTAL PRESS HITS and 81 BILLION MEDIA IMPRESSIONS for Ring.
Fortune wrote: Ring’s inventor was ‘completely broke’ before pitching his $1 billion idea to ‘Shark Tank’ and Amazon.
When Jamie Siminoff officially left Amazon Ring, The Verge wrote: Ring founder is officially leaving Amazon.
And when Jamie Siminoff returned to the Shark Tank as a Shark, USA Today wrote: Rejected by ‘Shark Tank,’ Ring doorbell founder returns as guest shark
Today, Ring devices protect millions of properties around the world, and BIG FISH continues to work with some of the best security, smart home, and video doorbell products on the market.
