Boston has a plethora of restaurants, bars and historical sites, but choosing one and getting there isn’t always an easy task. We listed some of our favorite mobile apps that make it fast and easy to navigate, explore, and discover all that Boston has to offer.

1. Achvr

BIGfish client Achvr has a gamified website and iPhone app that help you discover, track and share all the things you want to do, and keep score of all the cool stuff you have already done. Achvr’s database includes a surplus of activities in Boston like ‘see the Boston Symphony Orchestra perform,’ ‘enjoy a tour and tasting at the Harpoon Brewery,’ and ‘run the Boston Marathon.’ Once you’ve added items to your bucket list, Achvr finds relevant deals to help you achieve your goals without breaking the bank. 2. Ness

There are a lot of things Boston does well, and one of them is definitely food.  With thousands of restaurants to choose from, how do you decide? The answer is Ness, an app that functions like Pandora for food. Ness learns what you like based on past restaurant choices, and suggests new restaurants accordingly. Filter by location, time and even what your friends like. Bon appetit!

3. Tour Boston’s Freedom Trail

Channel your inner history buff and let your nerd flag fly with the Tour Boston’s Freedom Trail app. This app takes you on a guided tour of the historic Boston Freedom Trail and its 16 official stops, as well as other interesting sites along the way. Read or listen to the wealth of knowledge about our country’s most historical sites. With geolocation and map features, you will stay right on track and avoid getting lost on your way to Paul Revere’s House. Bonus: you won’t have to search for a bathroom with this app’s public bathroom locator.

4. Transit Tracker – Boston (MBTA)

Getting around Beantown can be frustrating. Waiting for the T for what feels like an eternity in the frigid winter weather is far from enjoyable. Finding the closest bus stop often seems like a scavenger hunt. But fear no more, there are many apps available to aid in your Boston travels! One such app is Transit Tracker – Boston (MBTA). This app allows you to find the nearest bus, train, subway or ferry stations, track vehicle locations, and see departure times. 5. Trip Advisor Offline City Guides

If you are looking for a one-stop app with all your touring needs, Trip Advisor’s Offline City Guides is the app for you. This free city guide is a resource with an endless list of restaurants, attractions, hotels, nightlife, shopping, and tours…reviews included! The app operates offline so it won’t eat up your data plan. Searching for pizza near Boston Common? You can easily search to find the closest, and best, pizza in the area. For exploring new territory, use the self-guided tours feature with handpicked itineraries to guide you through interesting neighborhoods and famous landmarks. Using your phone’s GPS, the app will give you directions and interesting facts along the way.
