Meet our Spring interns, Sonia, Vanessa and Shaelah (left to right)! We’re so excited to have them on board. Here’s some background on the latest members of the BIGteam!

Name: Sonia Kulkarni
Twitter: Soniaaa_k
Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/soniakulkarni/
Hometown: Miami, FL
Tell us a little bit about your background:
I am a senior at Boston University studying public relations. I’m originally from Miami, FL and came to Boston for a change in scenery. During my four years at BU, I’ve been apart of a few clubs and held leadership positions managing social media accounts and helping with event planning. These experiences, along with my past internships, convinced me to pursue my degree in public relations. They have all helped improve my writing, research and communication skills. In the future, I would like to combine these skills with my interest in fashion, arts, and entertainment.
What attracted you to BIGfish?
I was originally intrigued by the name BIGfish because it was fun and a bit different. After reading more about the clients (especially Iceland), the company, and the internship program, I was sure that it was somewhere I wanted to be. I love learning about new products and I thought it would be a great way for me to broaden my horizons passed my personal interests.
Describe yourself in 5 words:
Ambitious, Introverted, Organized, Bubbly, Loyal
What’s your favorite food?
Pad Thai and Gnocchi (or any pasta really)
What do you hope to accomplish in this internship?
I hope to have a better understanding of technology and the PR industry. Since I am graduating in a few months, I want to experience working on a team and building relationships.
Anything else we should know about you?
I love traveling and animals! It’s one of my dreams to travel abroad and volunteer at an animal sanctuary. Maybe for elephants or pandas!

Name: Vanessa Larrazabal

Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vanessa-larrazabal
Hometown: Caracas, Venezuela
Tell us a little bit about your background:
I am a senior at Boston University’s College of Communication studying public relations. I will be graduating in May a whole year sooner than expected, which is somehow both exciting and sad at the same time. For the past year and a half I’ve been working as a marketing intern for a local company. This experience taught me a lot about media monitoring, event planning, and customer care. I have a passion for health trends, and my favorite thing to do it spend time with my friends and family. Lastly, I hope to be a full on PR pro one day!
What attracted you to BIGfish?
BIGfish combines the best of both worlds: it has a small agency feel, but a fast paced and demanding environment. It’s the perfect scenario to grow as PR professional – a friendly, yet challenging place where I will be given responsibility, feedback, and guidance.
Describe yourself in 5 words:
Passionate, driven, kind, energetic, positive
What’s your favorite food?
No way I could ever choose!
What do you hope to accomplish in this internship?:
I want to learn, and put in motion tools I’ve learned in school. I want to get a feel for working in an agency scenario, foster reporter relationships, work on different accounts, and feel the thrill of landing media placements. I’m most excited about the lessons I will receive, the work I will put in, and the knowledge I will obtain.
Anything else we should know about you?:
I’m obsessed with my loved ones (this includes my dogs), I can’t play sports for my life, and if I had one wish, it would be for my country to prosper!
