We are thrilled to have Emerson senior, Bethelly, join the BIGteam as our newest fall intern!

Name: Bethelly Jean-Louis

Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bethellyjean-louis/

Hometown: Cherry Hill, New Jersey

Tell us a little bit about your background: I am a senior communication studies major at Emerson College with minors in public relations and marketing communications. My senior year of high school I had made up my mind that I would go to college in Boston to study communication. I knew that Emerson was a good school, but I wasn’t committed until I went to visit. Since then, Emerson has become my second home. During my time at Emerson, I’ve produced many shows, worked in the Admissions Office as a Diversity Outreach Intern, and I currently serve as the Vice President of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSSA) Emerson chapter. As my time at Emerson is coming to an end, I look forward to a PR career working in an agency setting. I’ve been fortunate enough to have different work experiences including volunteering at the Super Bowl LIV in the Social Media Command Center, spending a summer as a Public Relations and Social Media intern at pollina PR + marketing and working as a Communications Intern for Skillsoft. I have acquired different skill sets and expertise from these experiences. I’m excited to learn even more at BIGfish.

What attracted you to BIGfish? I love that BIGfish stands behind innovation, which is important to me. I also love its emphasis in storytelling. Storytelling is everything, it’s what makes people care. I believe that it’s our jobs as communicators to tell stories and make connections.

Describe yourself in 5 words: Courageous, a Capricorn, Hilarious, Generous and Creative

What’s your favorite food?: Salmon

What do you hope to accomplish in this internship?: I hope to learn more about different industries from the clients that BIGfish works with. I would like to have the opportunity to use some of the things that I’m currently learning for different projects. I am currently enrolled in a graphic design class, so I think it would be neat to take some of the things I learn in the classroom to BIGfish. At the end of this experience, I would like to see growth in my writing skills and confidence as a public relations professional.

Anything else we should know about you?: I was once an operatically trained singer, I still listen to the old arias I used to perform. I used to sing in Italian, German, French and Spanish. I’m also fluent in Creole and French. I have a knack for foreign languages. In another life, I could have been a Linguistics major.
