In its highly anticipated “Hi,Speed” event, Apple made a bunch of exciting announcements – including the new HomePod Mini, launched four new iPhones and introduced a 5G network. The BIGteam tuned in, and we have the biggest takeaways below!
The event kicked off with the introduction of the HomePod Mini, the latest addition to the HomePod family. Though the HomePod Mini is smaller than the original model, it delivers high-quality sound with 360 degree audio.
The HomePod Mini seamlessly integrates with all Apple devices. In fact, the newest Intercom feature can broadcast messages from the HomePod Mini to different Apple devices like the iPhone, AppleWatch or even your car!
The phrase “Hi,Speed” rings true for the highly anticipated iPhone 12. Apple announced its collaboration with Verizon to introduce the 5G network as a key feature for the iPhone 12. For the first time ever, the iPhone can now access the Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband, which enables faster download and upload speeds. Another key feature of the iPhone 12 is the A14 Bionic, the fastest mobile chip in any smartphone.
The iPhone 12 has a new design with flat edges, and gets a big upgrade in display quality with the Super Retina XDR display with OLED for a higher resolution. In addition to an improved display, the new dual-camera system of the iPhone 12 supports night mode for low light shots.
Compared to the iPhone 11, the iPhone 12 is 11% thinner and 15% smaller in volume. It’s also available in a smaller version as the iPhone 12 Mini.
Similar to the iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro features the same Verizon 5G and improved display. Exciting additions include the Deep Fusion feature for all cameras, optical image stabilization and Apple ProRaw to capture the best images.
The iPhone 12 Pro measures a 6.1-inches display compared to the iPhone 12’s 5.4 inch display. For the largest display, the iPhone 12 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch screen.
Apple’s charging ecosystem gets an upgrade! The new Magsafe system automatically snaps into place for wireless charging. Apple also introduced the MagSafe Duo Charger, a folding setup that allows for simultaneous charging of an iPhone and AppleWatch. The new MagSafe accessories for the iPhone makes charging your device that much easier while you’re on the go.
