Today, BIGclient DIRTT’s co-founder and VP of software development, Barrie Loberg, was named to Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business list! The prestigious list highlights individuals that are driving change in their industry through unique and innovative approaches to business. Chosen for his work in creating virtual and mixed reality software to eliminate the largest challenges facing the construction industry, Barrie is listed alongside other innovators, such as James Anderson, Daniel Glover, Massimo Bottura and Kylie Jenner.
The idea of using virtual reality to make life easier has captivated Barrie since a young age. An autodidact, Barrie’s highest degree is a high school diploma; his technological know-how and expertise is the result of personal research and experience. With the goal of making VR and MR as commonplace in our everyday life as the computer, Barrie’s work focuses on making VR an intuitive and easily accessible tool in the construction industry.
With the help of Barrie’s proprietary ICE software, DIRTT revolutionized the way the construction industry thinks about designing and creating a space. Through integrating virtual and mixed reality technology into the design process, Barrie’s software is helping construction projects stay on budget and on time. In understanding the power of technology to act as an equalizer, Barrie developed DIRTT’s proprietary ICE software to enable those with no background in design or construction to have the ability to create a space. Previously, end users who didn’t have a background in architecture or design were unable to have a say in the design of the space they will ultimately use. Barrie changed that by creating an intuitive platform that invites anyone to partake in the construction process.
Congratulations, Barrie!
