Last night BIGfish CEO David Gerzof Richard appeared on NBC Boston to discuss the recent layoffs from META, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram. Among the over 11,000 employees laid off were 200 people from META’s Cambridge office in Kendall Square. In David’s interview with Eli Rosenberg he reflected on the news of the layoff saying, “This is not a surprise to anybody who’s in the tech space. META was not doing a great job executing on its business plan.”

The rest of the tech industry will have to wait and see how this mass layoff impacts the industry as a whole, but David reminds us, “If you were a company that was planning your 2023 based on the consumer behaviors of 2020 and 2021 you are going to be in big trouble because those consumers are not going to behave anyway like they did when we were in COVID, and during COVID lockdown.”
